Reign of the Onyx King is a fantasy card battle for 1 to 4 players, and a standalone expansion to Hero: Tales of the Tomes. Everybody draws from one shared 200-card deck, so nobody brings a better one. No collecting. No deck building. Just play.
Each player picks a hero and levels up every round. Ability cards are double-sided, so every card played is a choice. Nobody is out until they hit zero.
There are four ways to play: Free for All, Draft, Solo, and Tyrant. In Tyrant, one player becomes the Onyx King, with mini-boss allies and a second phase, and everyone else teams up to take him down.
It plays on its own, or with the heroes and cards from Hero: Tales of the Tomes. Inside are four heroes, 200 cards, 70 wooden tokens and a level die, in a box built like an old book.
